The story of Disappointment Islands - Bouvet Island is the loneliest place on the planet. Thousands of kilometers from civilization, glaciers, and sheer cliffs. No one lives here, but in 1964, a British expedition discovered a boat. Who did it belong to? How did a group of people manage to land on a shore where it's practically impossible to land, and where did they disappear to? There are hundreds of such places where no one has ever been. This mysterious story and the vastness of our planet's uninhabited edges inspired me to write the album Disappointment Islands. I started writing it in December 2024, and it was supposed to be a seven-track EP consisting entirely of ambient music. I started working on it and felt like something was wrong, and I didn't like what I'd written. I abandoned work on this album for two months and only remembered it in March. Then I rewrote the entire album, changed the cover, and deleted the old tracks (the only ones left were "Islet" and "Yield"). Then I watched Oleg Prikhodko's documentary about Dixon and was inspired again, so I started working on this EP. I ended up with 21 tracks, but I decided to delete four of them because I didn't like them (they were really bad). There was supposed to be another track, "Plateau," but it didn't pass copyright protection because it sampled a village choir of grandmothers. So, on April 20th, I posted it on Bandcamp and Soundcloud. Then the distributor didn't want to release it on other platforms for a month, after which I wrote them 19 support letters, and somewhere around May, it was released on all platforms. In conclusion, I want to say that Disappointment Islands, in my opinion, is my best release. Which album's creation story should I tell you about next?
